I recently acquired a 1895 Mauser, Loewe, SN C22xx, matching numbers, that has been sporterized. When opening/withdrawing the bolt to the rear it is difficult to pull the cocking piece over the sear. I have polished the contact surfaces on both the cocking piece and the sear. When assembling the sear to the action the spring is hard to compress.

Is all the above standard for a 1895? I own one other cock on closing Mauser (1891) and the bolt cycles and the sear is assembled with little effort..

I suspect an incorrect sear spring has been installed but would like to hear from some folks with knowledge of 1895 Mausers.

Thanks in advance.
