I have two FN Mausers. The screw hole on the rear bridge on both is half a hole off (I don't have a micrometer)when I try to put a one-piece Redfield turn in mount on it.

It strikes me as odd that both are the same, is it possible that there was another one-piece mount out there that had a slightly different hole pattern?

I"m going to have both of them filled and reblued, But it still strikes me as odd tht both are tapped alike.

My guess is that you have the wrong mount.

What is a "turn in" mount?

Redfield rotary dovetail base # 47157 have one on a 93 Mauser they work on all small ring Mausers

This is what I call a turn-in mount, the front ring is dovetailed and the rear ring is held on by two screws. The rear hole is half a hole off as I said, and I double checked and it is the right mount for an FN 98 Mauser.

Randy, is it possible that my 98s were tapped for a 96?

You will have to weld the hole up and re-drill it in the correct spot. No big deal to do that.

That's what I did today. Dropped it off at the gunsmith's for rewelding, some blueing and a new hole.

The FN action that takes that mount is the commercial FN Supreme action. FN Military would be a 98 hole space done by a gunsmith at sometime in it's past.
