Manufacturer's code 27 = B. Geipel GmbH, Waffenfabrik Erma, Erfurt (replaced by ayf); alternatively Feinmechanische Werke, Erfurt (superseded by 'ax').

Manufactured in 1939

Bolt not matched to gun but matching to itself.

Post WW2 rifle either remanufactured from battlefield pick ups OR newly manufactured using left over parts. Not enough information to discern which although the lack of German proofs on the barrel TENDS to indicate new manufacture. Take that with more than several grains of salt............

That's a postwar rifle,

Built by the Czechs @ Brno. Late war style stock, postwar large stamped trigger guard, Czech lion proofs. Receiver rings were frequently scrubbed of the German markings, but the barrel still bears the wartime dot marking (in the small shield stamp). dot was the late war code for the Brno plant. The serial number on the receiver ring is also postwar applied. Interestingly, these K98s are also found w/the original German codes still intact on the receiver rings, & original wartime SNs, but the Czech lion proof serves as evidence they are still postwar production. Logic kinda dictates that they were completed closer to the war's end, & as time went on, the Czechs became more concerned about removing Nazi markings.

Also the Brno marking on the siderail was never present on Nazi produced K98k's. Many postwar rifles had WaA marked parts as at wars end there were thousands of rifles still in production lines and Nazi marked components still in the factory. The Czechs just kept assembling rifles. These are excellent shooters and an economical way for people to own a rifle identical to Nazi K98's made in the same factory, on the same machinery and by the same people who produced Nazi k-98's.
