I was recently given a machette that the previous owner indicated was from the Span.-Am. War era. The blade is 20" long, and the handle appears to be either horn or bone (kind of yellow-greenish). On the side of the blade by the handle is "P x S WIFT AVON-CONN." and "No. 66". A large letter "S" is stamped on the other side of the blade. There is also the outline of a bird that looks something like a dove.
Any information on this machette such as the approx. date of manufacture or general history would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Jim
