M1D op rod

I have had a 1984 DCM sales M1D with shipping papers for 15 years. The odd thing that has always made me wonder is why does it have a new SA 9 op rod in it that is un-cut? Why wasen't a modified rod used in rebuild? Any thoughts? :icon_salut:

Probably because that's what was on top of the pile in the parts bin, Or what was left in the bottom of the bin;)
