Given that they're shooting from essentially the same spot, it isn't that far fetched that at one point or another somebody would hit targets out at 1400 or so. Even if it's a sh!t luck hit, it's still a hit.

Pvt Roland Fisher, 5th Marines, killed six moving Germans at slightly over 1400 yards on 3 June 1918. He used a 1903 with a Winchester A5 shooting from a haystack while under arty fire which finally got him (wounded). It isn't such an unrealistic shot if you have the proper training. Remember the old geezer below who fired a 3-shot 5" group at 1000 yards at age 80?

I agree that 1400+ meters is beyond the ballistic performance of most 7.62MM ammo but it the are shooting 185 gr to 200 gr bullets it is do able. It sounds like .338 Lapua shooting to me. Great story though , kill the enemy when they don't expect it. Keep training snipers!!!

It also speaks well of the British that the villagers felt safe when these malefactors were dispatched on to Allah. These are not religious warriors. They are cheap criminals and rapists hiding behind the Koran to bully people into submission to their vulgar and criminal acts. Good for these guys for killing so many so quickly. BTW, I also cheer every time I read about a drone attack killing 17 or 28 in the war. Use the British example and KILL THEM ALL!!!! They did it in New Guinea and that turned out very well.

1400m is doable at the right altitude. At sea level it would be tough, but there are some good elevations in Afghanistan and bullets will carry.

Use the British example and KILL THEM ALL!!!! They did it in New Guinea and that turned out very well.

Mack I've been to New Guinea but I am unfamilar with this incident, but I am interested. Perhaps you could post a bit more on it?
