I thought I bought a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser M96 Gustafs 1902 rifle. Which is very nice with both bolt and receiver matching serial numbers. Invoice said: M96. Had it for 2 years. Bought bayonet that said: M38/M36. The bayonet fit. So does the bayonet fit both 96/98? How do I know if my rifle is M96? This is going up for sale on here soon so I want to be sure I list rifle with proper Model identification. Thanks! What are the differences between rifles? I gather bayonets are the same for both but I'm not sure..

A swedish mauser has a couple of different models, the 94 a carbine, the 96 a full length rifle, the 38 a short rifle.(A 38 can also be a cutdown 96.) There is also a 41B sniper. With the exception of the model 94 carbine which has a unique bayonet, the bayonets I believe are interchangeable with the exception of the 94 carbine.

There are also some target rifles in there too! I am unfamiliar with those.
Swed bayo will NOT fit Mauser 98 type bayo system. The rifle converted to pure target guns have no bayo mounts.
