I have recently picked up a M1917 presentation bayonet that has the following etched onto the blade.
''''''' 27th Infantry Div: (New York) Army of the United States of America '''''
''''''''' France 1917 18 '''''' "E Pluribus Unum" '''''''' The Great War ''''''''''
Can anyone shed any light on this bayonets and its possible history. Interesting is that the blade is dated 1918 (one of the incorrectly dated M1917 bayonets). Have also seen another one of these bayonets etched in the same way which was a P1913 English Contract bayo.
thanks in advance
Tony
