I have a Kar. 98 Mauser sporter made by C.R. Pedersen & Sons in .243 Win. It is a quality gun, with a lustrous deep bluing, jeweled bolt, Monte Carlo stock and a Buehler Safety.
The gun is new to me, and I cannot get the safety to properly function. The gun has a small push lever installed below the Buehler safety and this seems to be some type of cocking disabler. It only operates when the bolt is open. When you pull back the bolt and then move the lever rearward, the bolt will close but the gun will remain uncocked. When you push the lever forward and close the bolt, the gun is cocked and will fire.
The Beuhler safety lever seems to locked in the fire position regardless of the position (forward or rearward) of the smaller lever descibed above.
Can someone tell me what needs to be done to make the Buehler safety function properly?
Thanks in advance,
Tony
