It would not have been a common occurrence, but certainly possible depending on what was in the immediate supply chain. The two knives are of course essentially identical, and if a supply officer had a request they might well have supplied a Navy marked knife if the USMC was not readily available. I don't think it would have been done on a large scale, but I do think it might have occurred on a more or less individual basis.
