Stewart & Stevenson U.S. M43 Entrenching tool carrier

I just got this Ames 1945 dated E-tool. The M43 carrier is marked "Stewart & Stevenson 1945"
Bill Ricca had no record of this company, so suspects small contract. Ive been contacted by another member from another board who has one too! Anyone else?

Stewart C Jim Stevenson (Stewart and Stevenson), Houston Texas. The company during WWII manufactured generators, power units, welding equipment, pumps, truck remanufacturing (different from rebuilding used trucks). One contract listed for gun barrel covers, so apparently they had the capability of heavy duty sewing, which may have included individual equipment items not listed.

Internet search indicates the company was originally involved with building carriages and wagons, which probably included the fabric tops and cargo covers.

Thankyou, I found that article too, but it never mentioned this kind of equipment, but I figured it was them.

My 1944 GPW was reconditioned by Stewart and Stevenson. Here is a photo of the rebuild plate.
