Just a heads up that there is a rare M1917 Bayonet on the CMP auctions. It is the transitional version with the British type date and model markings and the full US markings on the reverse (vs. the normal cancelled British proofs with US added).

I have only seen two of these previously. I have one so thought I would pass on the info.

while uncommon, Not all that rare. When we switched over to M1917's there were loads of P14 bayonets in inventory.

This particular one never had a Brit inspection done. Mine has Brit marks, lined out and US ones added.

Dave is correct. Those you mentioned are different John, the standard British proofed that are lined out and then stamped US.

This is only the 3rd transitional version I have seen or heard mentioned. Very rare.

The marks look just like one in my collection except it's remington and there is the number 14 in place of the 29.

The one shown above is Remington. How is yours marked? The 14 and 29 were different inspector proof numbers.
