Picked up a couple of 1942 dated 17" bayonets at an arms collectors meeting today. Both have nice un-sharpened parkerized blades. One has an OL maker mark over the US and ordnance bomb over 1942, and one is marked M.D.C.O. in a rounded corner box over the US and ordnance bomb and 1942. Both have the ordnance wheel on the reverse side on the blades.
I am familiar with the OL marking, but have never seen the 'M.D.C.O.' before and don't see a reference to any manufacturer whose name would fit these initials in Duff's WWII Garand book or in Cole's Military Knives and Bayonets book.
What is it??!
