View Full Version : Creedmoor hardback coat question
I just got a used hardback coat. The shoulder sling strap is missing the clasp to close it. Can it be used without it or should I replace it.
TIA.
If you are going to be shooting service rifle, you won't be using it anyway... If shooting match rifle, I would give Creedmoor a call, hope this helps you...

I plan on shooting service rifle. Right now 1903s, M1 Garand at some point. Thanks.
Just slide the sling up past the rubber pad behind the arm and that will help hold it in place.
Thanks. Any special tips on cleaning the coat (cordura)?

Cleaning? A shooting coat? :icon_scratch:
Creedmoor says this:
"The only way to clean your coat is with a mild detergent (Woolite) and water. Spray the coat down lightly and scrub it inside and out. Rinse it off lightly and allow to air dry. Do not Dry Clean! Soak in water! Or try any other method of cleaning! You will only damage the coat and have to buy a new one."
In the past I would spray mine lightly with a hose when I thought it had gotten too dusty/dirty. I soon found that, while it got rid of the dust, it also took away the "broken in" fit and feel so I don't even do that anymore.

Most of the time I just use an old whisk broom to knock the dust off. Heck, I'm not going to church in it. A little Woolite in a damp sponge takes care of the sweaty areas.
The one I got is overall fairly clean. There are a couple small splatters of something on it, chili maybe? It certainly didn't arrive as if it had been to Camp Perry games then thrown in a box for the winter.

Since it's a "pre-owned" coat I'd give it a good Creedmoor Woolite treatment.
Primarily so it does lose that broken-in-for-someone-else fit and feel; then you can break it in for you.
Secondarily because you don't know where it's been

Don't forget Febreze! It helps with the inevitable "racoon crawled in and died in it last summer" issues!
