I'd like to know how those who do it regularly attach a sling to a 98K for use in CMP vintage matches? The original sling was used only for carry, not as a marksmanship aid (as far as I can tell)...so what are people using, and how are they attached?
Thanks,
John
Though I haven't used a sling in any "official" match on a K98, I have practiced with a M1907 sling on a K98 using a rawhide loop through the side swivel . . . then the M'07 through the loop (much the same as using a M'07 with the "dog collar" of the Mosin-Nagant).
It does work . . . . sort of . . . though I don't think it provides for equal down-force at the lower band. --Jim

It looks like the sling is wraped around his left arm and goes up to the right side of the rifle, at the top barrel band? Wonder how its fastened at the top?
