I'm thinking of turning a run-of-the-mill helmet liner into a reproduction of Gen. Geo. S. Patton's famous hi-gloss liner. I know that it featured a 3+1 star rank badge on the front, and a 3rd army logo on one side, but 1) what was on the other side, and 2) was the color a high gloss OD, or a high gloss black? Thanks in advance for any info....

He had more than one, and they were not all the same. There'e one at the Virginia Military Institute and another at the General Patton Museum. One is a 4 star OD high gloss liner that has a third army decal on the front, a Seventh Army decal on the left side, and I believe a 1st Armored Division decal on the right side. It may even have more than these on it.
Do a Google search for General Patton's Helmet. You'll get several hits including some pretty good photos.

Ypu may want to contact the owner/curator of the WWII museum in Newton, MA (Google search it). He owns a bunch of Patton uniforms/memorabilia. He is responsive to emails.
