The don't say any thing in the description about the nonmilitary sling swivels. That is a lot of money for that carbine!
I agree, mine must be worth 4000 ea., comparing condition!! hehe!

Looks a little ratty to me ...

I suppose some bidder may think it's not likely a fake as are many in other public offerings. Like you said, kinda ratty.

CMP auctions always seem to bring several times to worth of whatever is being offered. I don't know if the bidders see it as a sort of "donation", or what.
Here is a picture of pending auctions that the CMP posted last year. Looks like they have several to auction. They all appear to have had swivels added for some purpose. The one in the top foreground appears to have a hole drilled.

What do you mean? JLA stands for J. Lumner Adams. I thought everyone knows who he was.

Looking at the group pic, many do have sling swivels. As it is my understanding that the CMP only sells U.S. Government property, just what are the thoughts on the sling swivels? My guess is that a VFW or American Legion post may have done it for parade purposes, or they were used by cadets for drill / parade practice. If that is the case, what are the thoughts on that, authenticity wise?

I've been to a gun auction that was selling a midwest collection of 75+ Krags, and I saw 2 krags with the same swivels.
I thought they were done later on and bogus, but they seem to keep popping up here and there, and they all look close to the same.
