I am going to buy this rifle and then I will be the only person in the world to own a stainless steel Rock Island 1903 with a SA 8-30 barrel. Don't none of yall bid on it and I can get it for the low price of $2900.00

I'm sure he thinks he has a big winner. I wonder how many bidding cycles he'll go through before he figures what he REALLY has.

A very rare of example of the contract lot made for the "Special Maritme Forces of the VFW"?

The posting also states that it has a 32 inch barrel and a magazine capacity of 4. Does the 32 inch barrel add to rarity and value?

" Characteristics for Item # 332393026
Manufacturer: Rock Island
Model: 1903
Caliber: .30-06
Barrel Length: 32 inch
Capacity: 4 "

Update: I took a chance and contacted the seller and he freely admitted he had no knowledge about the rifle or M1903s in general. I told him I'd give him a hand in identifying what he has. Seems to be a nice enough guy.

hmm, seems he knew enough to price a 400.00 rifle at 2900.00 though

If he had a bunch of transactions on GB I'd think he was trolling for a sucker. Could have had someone sell it to him for a bundle as a "rare" 1903 or had someone TELL him it was rare. In his return email, he didn't seem at all "huffy" and was at least apparantly reaching out for some help. I agree he should have "reached out" before he listed the rifle.

Hey Rick, is it a high number? I couldn't see in the pictures, they get blurry when you enlarge them.

It has a 1930 SA barrel - I'm guessing one in the 300,000-400,000 range. I did tell him that it is good to at least state the first few digits.

Looks like a VFW return. Nice butt plate.
