Can someone post pictures of a real type 99 mono pod in detail? Meaning close ups. I am looking at several type 99's and want to make sure they are not reproduction mono pods.
Thanks

I do not have a real one on my 2-99's. I only know of one repro made (I'm sure there are others). These are very well done, not sure I could tell it from original, but have not seen real one in years. This repro has a pin punch mark on the main block of the mono. Not readily seen but its there.

The nut on the repros is more modern looking. Otherwise, they are excellent quality. Will try to post pics of both later tonight.

My monopod is the only repro part on my 99! It looks pretty convincing to me... Here's a couple pictures:

What I'd really like to see is the spring-clip that was bolted to the mono pod block, that held the pod in EITHER the folded OR the "using" position!
These are almost ALWAYS missing on original rifles! --Jim

That is the thingy on bottom with the bottom with the bolt thru it, it folds around to the other side where the nut is on the bolt.

As you can see, the repros are pretty much perfect. The head of the screw is very slightly more domed and the nut is large and modern looking. Sorry there is no nut on the original but on a $200 rifle with monopod, AA sights and cleaning rod....I ain't gonna complian to the seller.

If the petina does not match exactly from the clip to the monopod band, assume a repro or refit.

Guam--Does that repro have the punch mark?

Yes, to the block the rod is inserted into. it is a tiny mark though.

I think mine has it too, but I have to go look to confirm.
