That one and Pocket Hammerless .380 serial number 135170 were shipped to PMC for ammunition testing.
And those tests were destructive, weren't they?
The pistol I saw looked to be in nice shape but refinished. It was parkerized and the lettering somewhat subdued. I don't know a great deal about these pistols and the over all condition of the finish was about 100% which leads me to believe it was refinished...just too nice. U.S. PROPERTY was on the right side, but I couldn't tell if it was engraved or stamped.

The Colt Mod 1903 was produced in 1945 and was parkerized when delivered to the Government.

Colt Pocket Hammerless .32 serial number 571358 was issued to Maj. Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf in August of 1956.
Colt Pocket Hammerless .380 serial number 135170 was issued to Lt. Gen George S. Patton in August of 1944.
The pistols were routinely refinished when reissued.
I need to get a picture of that pistol. I'll see what I can do.
Okay here's a picture of the serial number and it looks good to me.

I wonder what's up with the General Schwarzkopf SRS. He would have been a second LT in 1956 and when he was a MG these pistols were probably long gone.
Possibly Major General Herbert Norman Schwarzkopf (August 28, 1895 – November 25, 1958) Stormin' Norman's father. Altough, his years of service were service 1917–1921, 1940–1953.
