Last month I won several Mausers at an on line auction, including this DGFM 1909 carbine. Here are the auction pics

The rifles from this haul arrived at my FFL today. I got a chance to look them over before they went into the safe for the 10 day waiting period.

The DGFM carbine looks decent. The bore is good, the wood is not bad, but very dark. The metal finish is good, but the action, which is correct "in the white" has a kind of dull finish on it.

Better pics when they get out of jail.

I picked up my haul from my FFL last week and have started going over them. The DGFM carbine is not bad...all matching, no noticeable corrosion on the metal. Stock is matching, but a previous serial number has been lined out. There is a small crack just aft of the rear sight.

The bore is a little "frosty", but may clean up a bit.

My experience with the Argentine carbines is that they are rarely as nice as the long rifles...not sure why.

I hope to get to the range next week and shoot this

Maybe horse sweat soaking through a saddle scabbard? It will corrode anything!

Could be...that is as good a theory as any other.

One thing is for sure, the carbines saw some kind of action.
