Yes, I have seen them before and actually have one that looks very close to yours. Most of the ones that I have seen have their hammer broken off though. (Probably dropped one too many times) Yours being completely intact makes it a little more desirable as a collectors piece. They don't command a very high price, I think I gave $30.00 for mine. I think they are pretty neat though.

Well I gave $20.00 for mine didn't think there was a lot of value just thought it was interesting.

I don't think you can blue or parkerize it since it is made of aluminum. They were toys made by the A.C. Lytle company and they had about 20 popular handguns in the line. Lugers, Detective Specials, Colts, etc. These were cast in sand and were originally painted black.

I know I can't blue or park just going to paint to look that way.

Clean it and try Aluminum Black by Birchwood Casey. It works well for Blue touch ups on metals and great on Aluminum. Rick B

A lot of military gate guards were equipted with pistol belts and fake .45's. The Main Gate, Recruit Training Center, 1965, at Cape May comes to mind, they were afraid we would shoot someone.

Nope, Just like guard duty in Basic, unloaded weapons. Who the heck would give a raw recruit a weapon and live ammo:)
