Hathcock's spotter/sniper that day, John Burke, later earned the MOH (posthumously).

The serial number of that VC sniper's rifle is known, and someday it will turn up. I pity the sorry SOB that stole it from Hathcock.

That he was exceptional sniper is fact. Somethings don't add up though on other facts but its now legend and myth
like the cherry tree and George Washington. There has been some liberal journalism at play here and in my opinion,
Hathcock spun a few lines of it himself. The shots on Cobra and Apache ? Dead right they happened. So did his other
confirmed kills . Those are fact.
