Thanks Rick.
it is a nice looking 1898 rifle, BAWJ rearsenal stamp, I would pout the rifle in about 90% condition. It is accompanied by a picture of the former owner in a WWI uniform with a medal on the left pocket flap with a Krag rifle with leather sling. Family states rifle was with soldier during WWI and given to him at discharge. There is an almost unreadable copy of his dischage record, showing he never attained NCO rank, and that he had been gassed. Nothing showing assignment to a railway engineers unit.
And they want A LOT of money for it. I'll pass, and start putting together a BM-59 copy instead.

Just for what it's worth... Krags used in WWI are not unheard of. Most of the Krags used in WWI were used for Garrison or Guard duties. My 1898 (S/N 132598) was used in France in WWI, and the soldier that carried it brought it home with him and deposited it under his bed for some 40 odd years. When he died, his son gave it to my father.
How much is "A lot of money?" Some of the more seasoned experts here will be able to tell you if the price is reasonable or not.
