View Full Version : WTB 1903 or 03A3 receiver
i've got a LN 03 (151005 SA). Has been sported. Shot it before i figured it's not a real good idea. Shoots M2 ball ammo 1MOA @ 100yds. i would like to build from the bbl a good repro of it using a HN receiver. Suggestions?

Aim also has stripped smith-corona receiver and stripped bolt for same price.
Can't tell if they're refurbished drill river's or not.

aim = recovered drill rifles you can count on it..
might be easier and cheaper, to just buy another rifle.
My son used a recovered receiver last year, and it turned into a very nice rifle. Same deal, started with a low serial numbered sporterized rifle. safty in the long term.
I have 03A3 drill rifle barreled receiver if you are interested please contact me.
I bought an AIMS receiver. Bake on finish, had to work on may cutoff as repaired poorly. I'd buy another but I know I can work on them if need be.

Built two 03a3s a number of years back, both are fine. Buddy built two also and shot his much more than I have, his are good too. The only thing is depending on how much nickel rod they burned into the cut-off switch area determined for me how "clean" it turned out. You can tell by looking that they are reclaimed receivers, but I don't care as I never intended to deceive anybody about them. If you want to try one I have about 6 high number barreled receivers but only 03's, no 03a3. Most have had the cut off removed already but need to be cleaned up around the welded area. I have no plans for them. John.
Is the barrel unmodified? It sems to be an '03 with the Fixed Rear Sight Base still on the barrel?
If the barrel is unmodified you could probably sell it, the apparent milled '03 triggerguard, floorplate, etc. and the bolt, bolt parts - oh heck! Just part out the whole gun , even the receiver. You'll probably get far more than the cost of a decent, scoped .03 off of Gunbroker.

Like most milsurp guns....they are worth more in parts than whole. However, what's worse...
drilling holes in receivers or breaking up a gun?
Thanks for the ideas guys, the barrel is unaltered except for the fact that bubba got at it with about '2grit' sandpaper to remove some rust. i had to strip it, but it still has a good bore. Here are a few pic's. Got the boyds C/stock from my cousin.
thanks again,

Never mind my comments, I thought you wanted a sporter. You have a swell batch of parts and CID is right, it just needs a recovered receiver to hold them all together.
