1873 Trapdoor, opinion and information request

Hello all, it has been awhile. I stumbled into this yesterday and with less than 5 minutes thought it followed me home . . . I would appreciate any input I can get on it and if possible does anyone have a CRS hit on it. Serial 242034

Happy 4th of July! There's nothing like that new rifle feeling! Whats the serial number on your rifle? I checked and I certainly have CRS, had it for years. I don't have the SRS books. hopefully someone else will check this site on the 4th and get back to you.

Beautiful rifle you have there. Is there a cartouche on the left side of the stock at the wrist?

Rick, this must be your lucky day, you beat the (considerable) odds: 242034 - 1st Territorial Volunteer Infantry, Co. M, 1898.

Also w/same citation: 015, 026, 028, 030, 036, 045, etc., a VERY RARE case of like-numbered arms occurring together.

Doesn't say which territory (AZ, NM are obvious choices) or where it was logged. Also, shows as an 1884 Rifle, which means I suspect it had a Buffington sight at the time, as it would NOT be an 1884 by s/n. This would confirm the impression that the sight seems a bit bluer than the barrel? How is the block marked, 1873 or 1884? Any letters on stock indicating which territory?

I thought i had postdd the wrist stamp .... there is what looks to me like a common block acceptance stamp kn the left and a circle p under tbe wrist. What marking on the block are you refering to? This is my first trap.... thanks for tbe knformation . Getting ready for work will post other photos of stamps later

Don't see a picture of the stamp on the stock (which just COULD be SWP/1884) but that isn't what I was asking about.

Is the breechblock (the part that flips up) marked US/Model/1873, or US/Model/1884?

Is the rear sight held on with slotted or slotless screws?

It is marked 1873 and i think there were round head.... what i thought were pins on the rear sight. Will get you photos of that tonight i dont know how to post from my phone

Don't need photos of that, have several examples of them. Rifle looks very nice. You should feel excited about it being listed - that is no small thing. Most people strike out.

36983, I did manage to hit the 24in gong at 200yrds with it. There is very little if any rifling left in the barrel. My rifles are the 1st, 3rd, 4th and the Pietta SAA.
