WW11 style grips

I got a set yesterday, the redddish plastic kind. 5.00 in perfect condition. I have a 1911A1 with Brit proofs on frame & slide. No.767005. The pistol has a custom set, but original style 1911 wood grips. I got the plastic ones to put aside for this pistol. The plastic ones are marked with a star with the letter K inside and the numbers 16 (right) & 20 (left). Do these marks mean anything? What can you tell me about the pistol from the serial, it is a Colt, the slide is anyway.

it's a '42 colt. The stocks you found are manufactured by Keyes; they would not be correct for a '42 Colt. I'm not 100% positive, but I think the correct stocks on the inside would would be hollowb ack, unreinforced with a mold number. The slide should also have the matching serial number under the firing pin stop plate.

Thanks for the answer. The gun is not entirerly correct anyway as it was blued over the park., I am sure. Have not taken it apart so do not know if other serial is a match. Thanks again.
