Just picked up an Ithaca double stamp in the 910,000 range that looks all correct with original parts and finish. Slide and frame wear patterns seem to match. Only odd thing is that while the frame and HS barrel both have the P proof mark, the slide does not. In fact, the replacement slide has no markings at all other than the usual "Ithaca Gun Co., Inc. / Ithaca N.Y." and "Model 1911A1 US Army" roll marks. I've read that Ithaca had some issues with arsenal markings and that some replacement slides with no P have been reported: is this true or should I be concerned about this slide? Thanks in advance.
By the way, I know some members used to sell a CD with Ithaca's shipping records but I'm not having any luck getting in touch. Does anyone kn ow where I can find/purchase a copy?

I'd be concerned without matching "P" proof on slide.

Well that's not good. Scott, any idea why the slide would not have a firing proof? Defective? Stolen from factory? I'm trying to understand the proofing process and how this slide might have come to be on this frame. Thanks.

Can't say without inspecting the pistol. It could be buffed off, as in refinished.

Not sure if these pics will help or not. I realize it's not an in-hand inspection, but the finish looks good to my amateur eye...

The slide and frame appear to have different finishes and are most likely not original to one another. Can't say whether finish is original on the slide.
