I might as well ask - didn't even think about M1917's being in the Database. How about a very early (first month of production, I think) M1917 Eddystone, #15377, ?
Thanks in advance, CC

What groups of 1917's would be in the SRS data base. If there are alot, it would add to the collecting interest.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is SRS?

Springfield Research...
Springfield Research Service is a private organization that has probed various government files looking for serial numbers of military weapons. When they find some they note the location and publish the number in various forms which to users can subscribe. If you get a "hit" on their index you can contact them and for a fee request a full copy of he documents. In most cases this requires they revisit the Archives and pull the documents again to make copies.
Information is added to the index from time to time so the lack of a hit today does not mean one might find the weapon one is looking for in the future.
In some cases the information may be rather prosaic. then again every now and then you see a rifle with multiple entries over a period of years.
If you Google Springfield Research Service more information is available. I believe they now want potential users to first subscribe to their magazine /newsletter.
