My dad just gave an old pistol he had and I am not really sure what it is outside of caliber.
I dont have any pics yet but there is a ton of markings on here, just not the manufacturer.
It looks like a standard 1911 and is fairly heavy. On the left side where I would expect to see the 1911-22 thing like most .22 1911s have, instead in big letters on the slide "WARNING: THERE IS NO AUTOMATIC FIRING"
on the next line continuing it "PIN SAFETY"
Then directly over the slide catch in the same font and size it says "E.A.A. - COCOA - FLA"

Still on the left side on the behind the trigger going down the starting under the slide catch and ending over the mag release S A M RP.

On the right side of the pistol, under the ejection port on the slide "FT- MADE IN ITALY"
and then on the front end of the slide 1911- .22LR

Just above the trigger there is a PAC number and below that PAC.Mdsto CA.
Below the slide on the frame under the 1911-.22LR it says "M1911 AI U.S.ARMY"

I do not think its an old pistol, obviously at least 12 years since that is when grandpa died and extremely likely to be a decade or so older than that. The magazine and the pistol grips are some kind of polymer plastic. Actually going to look up aftermarket pistol grips after I post this.

The hand grips actually have a circle with rings emblem in the middle. Kinda looks like a target with bull's eye.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Pacific Arms Co, Modesto CA. , Apparently now known as Pacific Arms LLC. Probably the importer. Is the # following "PAC" possibly the model # for the pistol?

Cannot say I am a fan of the below the hammer safety, really a PITA to get more than one shot off at a time. Any ideas what that warning means?

The firing pin safety was added to the Colt 80 series pistol. The pistol does not have this safety feature.

This firing pin blocking mechanism on the Series 80 Colts differentiates the Series 80 Colts from the “true” M1911A1 pistols. The M1911 and M1911A1 pistols do not have this device. The purpose of the firing pin block is to prevent the firing pin from moving forward unless the trigger is depressed. This “lawyer friendly” mechanism is supposed to prevent “accidental discharges” caused by dropping the pistol or catastrophic mechanical failures. Many 1911 purists feel that the firing pin block adds some mush to the trigger pull although it isn’t very much. Remember that no mechanical gadget can replace the safety device which resides between your ears.

E.A.A. = European American Armory, the importer. They also import the "Witness" pistols.

Where is the serial number normally located on 1911s?

Pictured pistol is a frame made/distributed by Pacific Armament Corp. equipped with a .22/45 conversion unit from European American Armory. The serial (PAC 20104?) appears in the usual location for 1911 types.

Ahh thanks for the info. Now to get the safety fixed, think there is a bad spring or something in there.
