1919 vintage 03 question

I have come across SA serial number 1094077 with a 4-19 dated barrel, in fantastic shape. Beautiful S stock and clear DAL cartouche. Its finished exactly like a pre war 1903, ie blued barrel and rear base, oil quenched receiver, blued band, triggerguard, etc. The finish certainly looks original based on photos and pre-war rifles that I own, but I have not actually held the gun. Bolt body is in the white. Should this gun not be parkerized? Is this an early NM?

Serial #1093964 and #1094311 are both listed in SRS as NM's for ammo test on 7-24-19.

The rifle you describe is a 1919 National Match rifle and the bolt body should correctly be in the white.

If it is in nice condition and less than $3,000, you should seriously consider the purchase, that is assuming it is a true 1919 NM.

The standard finish on a 1919 NM rifle would be a blued lower band, blued rear sight assembly, blued bolt sleeve/firing pin assembly, a blued front sight movable stud assembly, a blued trigger, a blued magazine follower, a blued butt swivel, a polished bolt, a black receiver, and the remaining parts having an olive-grey parkerized finish. I cannot rule out the possibility that parts having a blued finish might have been substituted on occasion. But those would have to be evaluated and authenticated on an individual basis.
