just picked up this 1903 RIA made in 1913. rifle is minty late 1913 production. stock is RI marked at tip and bolt has small "S" marking. handguard has no fixture slot or numbers. wood and metal are mint under the stock.beautiful blue and markings are crisp like a fresh salad. rifle had a small amount of surface rust from being stord dry that pretty well came off with oil and 0000. bore mint and gauges new.buttplate smooth.
so what is it? only marks on wood is 12 behing trigger guard.also has a mint nickel oiler in the butt. why the later stock and Springfield bolt? possible NRA ciivilian sales put together and sold before WWI? rifle is too nice to have ever been issued. thoughts?

Handguards at RI no longer had the fixture slots during WWI production. Possibly your stock was probably put on the rifle the same time then. It has all of the correct features I believe for a RI WWI stock. Interesting.

yes the stock set is WWI time frame and the bolt early SA. the package looks to have been together from the start. it's all in the exact same condtion, like new,all original finish.
