Saw this 330 on eBay. Have you seen this type of ID etch before? I cannot see the serial number.

Jim it looks to me like a pitted and refinished data plate installed on 2nd model M73B1 tube. Typically the second model M73B1's had roll stamped M73B1 nomenclature on the dataplate; the words "Serial No." roll stamped on the tube and the actual five digit serial number electo-penciled just to the right of "Serial No.".
I have not seen one like that before. On the early scopes with electro-penciled nomenclture the word "Telescope" is always spelled out.
