My friend, who is a WWII Marine veteran, wants to give me his WWII KA-BAR knife. I won't accept it unless I pay him what it is worth.
The knife is in good condition. Bowie type blade with sheaf. Marked: U.S.M.C. on one side of the blade and KA-BAR on the other.
Can anyone give an approx value?
Thank you.

They vary quite a bit depending on condition of the piece and specific details regarding the assembly of the knife which reflects the specific time frame, (even during WW2), that the knife was made.
The value can range from over $1000 down to about $50.
Pictures would be a good place to start in establishing a reasonable value for this knife.

If he wants to give it to you, honor his request, take it and treasure it.

It was offered as a gift he does not need the money he wants to thank you for appreciating something from his military service. Say thank you and give it away some day for the same reason
