Stevens 620 WWII Riot Arsenal Rebuild?

I bought this at a show this weekend. I haven't really ever seen one before that is why I picked it up. It looks like a rebuilt 620 riot from WWII. I know more the Winchester military shotguns than the stevens and I'm curious what you guys think about this.

I thought most of these had non checkered wood. But I don't know if the stock would be correct for this or a replacement. Also this is parked, I imagine it was original blued?

The serial in the 20,000 range and I see the US marking and flaming bombs and the P proofings.

Also the buttplate is metal one that looks like it was made. It doesn't look factory.

What do you guys think? I am thinking it's probably a Vietnam era rebuild.

The buttplate is wrong. The prick punch marks most likely indicate a rebuild. Is the barrel serial matching to the receiver?
The checkered buttstock is OK, they came both ways. The stock should be numbered to the receiver if you take it off.

Not in collectors condition, but if it was cheap it is OK.

Now I did see the post above this that talks about a metal buttplate being arsenal made and put on during rebuild. Could this metal butt plate be an arsenal made one? Looking at it in person it has a lot of chatter marks in the metal, it looks like someone made it, it doesn't look factory made at all.
