Might want to check your figures. Total Colt 1911 and 1911A1 production was somewhere short of 1.21 million. What about Remington-UMC and US&S production, or do you have Remington-UMC lumped in with Remington Rand, which were not the same company.

Well I guess I knew I'd be putting a bullseye on my back. I collected the figures in haste and as such were approximations. I did have the US&S #'s figured in to the totals but in my haste to post, left them out. My point was, that of all the 1911 & A1's produced, only the Springfield was produced at a military facility. Not trying to disparage any particular maker, just throwing out a piece of information that may or may not be common knowledge.

If you are going to present information with facts and figures, best to take your time and verify your figures for it to be meaningful, eliminating the bullseye.
Production of the Model 1911 Springfield Pistol was halted because the Model 1903 Rifle was needed for WWI, and Springfield did not have the facilities to manufacture both in quantity.
