I can't wait to watch it my Grandfather Traul joined at 28 after Pearl Harbor. Ended up commanding Sherman's. Both his crews nicknamed him GRAMPS because he was so old....lol. on a sad note his first crew was killed when their tank ran over a land mine in Italy. Gramps was sitting up in the commanders hatch and was blown clear.

Did some research on the Director, he has written a few movies that I like. He wrote "Training Day", which is good thriller/crime movie.

Also wrote U-571...which I recall caught a lot of flak. His statement might hint at a little more honesty in his future WW2 movie.

"Ayer wrote the submarine thriller U-571, a fictional account of the United States capturing the Enigma code rather than the United Kingdom. The furor that surrounded the film's release led British Prime Minister Tony Blair to claim that it was an "affront to the memories" of those involved and U.S. President Bill Clinton to write a letter emphasizing the film's fictional nature. Ayer has said that U-571 distorted history by this assertion and that he would not do it again. "It was a distortion", he said, "a mercenary decision to create this parallel history in order to drive the movie for an American audience. Both my grandparents were officers in World War II, and I would be personally offended if somebody distorted their achievements."

Well, we did capture the U-505 and did get more information on the german code. It wouldn't be the first time hollywierd screwed up!
