Years ago I purchased a box of miscellaneous gun stuff and parts at the estate sale for an elderly shooter/hunter who was active before and after WWII. Included among the many bits and pieces were the externally adjustable micrometer rings and bases seen below. They are beautifully made and finished. Just incredible workmanship.

The fixed ring appears to have an inside diameter of 7/8ths of an inch, if my eyes and cheap Chinese ruler don't deceive me. I have read that the target scopes used with these rings have 3/4" tubes. Am I simply not measuring carefully, or were these rings also made in 7/8"?

I'm not sure who manufactured these rings. The US and Canadian patent numbers are the only markings. I did a quick patent search and it appears that these rings were invented/designed by F.A. Kuhn who was awarded US patent #2,004,489 on June 11, 1935.

Can anyone advise me who manufactured these rings? Unertl? Lyman?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks!

They look like they'd work for the Malcolm USMC. I have a "Chinertl" and those look pretty close to identical. On the front ring, it looks like you're missing the piece that goes on the bottom of the spring. I wonder if the Malcolm piece would fit. All the Malcolm issues I had were related to the mounts, if mounts like yours came my way, I'd try them.
