FYI, just in case, according to Wikipedia there was a recall on that rifle made from 1961 - 1973:
"In 1990, Winchester issued a recall for this rifle due to a tendency for the firing pin to fail, causing the gun to fire with the action not fully locked, leading to possible catastrophic failure and risk of severe injury or death to the shooter. Winchester offered to do repairs on the gun free of charge."
The recall is still in effect and will be paid for by FN now as they own Winchester. Just about any good rifle powder works well with the 100. It is not pressure sensitive the way the Garand is. I had a nice 100 in 243 and it really like IMR 4831 which is a slow powder.

Hefights....
Thanks for the heads up.
Anyone have a contact number for FN service?
Thanks also for the powder info. Sounds like about any suitable powder for .308 would at least be OK if not great, no safety issues to worry about powder wise it seems.
Thanks again,
Mickey
Do an online search for Winchester 100 recall. It should come up. There were a couple of repair companies listed the last time I checked.

I called Win a few years ago. Just have them the SN and they were able to tell me that mine (which I purchased used) had already had the modification done to correct it. Hopefully FN will have the same records available.
My first choice in hunting rifles, have 308, and 284. Special bedding and prep from m1a, m1carbine. A lotta work butt sub 1" at 100 w common old reloads. Email me with phone I will tell you what works. These are great rifles but for trigger. But they can shoot
