View Full Version : Traded for a Remington 1903A3 what do i have
I did a local trade for a couple older Smith handguns i did not shoot anymore.
I received a
Remington 1903A3 Serial # 4003384
It has a R.A. 1943 with Flaming Bomb barrel.
The stock has markings on the left side and on the stock also.
Muzzle measures 1
Throat measures best I can tell about 2-3
I have a few rough cell phone camera pictures.
Sorry my digital camera is out of town

You have what had, at one time, been a nice, unmolested, late production A3 that went through inspection at Ogden Arsenal, gone into storage, and then was sold via the DCM. A subsequent civilian owner had the Lyman rear sight and front sight blade installed, (hopefully well done and not with 'cockeyed' rear sight base holes). Those holes will never go away completely, and these days, could devalue the piece by as much as $150.00 per hole, depending on who's buying (i.e., when selling, rust is 'patina', when buying, rust is rust). If you have it in mind to 'restore' the piece, a new rear sight assembly is certainly available, as well as the front sight blade, but, nothing is free. Filling the holes in the receiver with filler plugs, installing the removed parts, and shooting it in the 'Games', could be a lot of fun, as could just loading some quality ammunition and taking the old girl hunting. You could also go ahead and finish the "sporterizing", being limited only by your imagination and the thickness of your wallet!
BTW, do you mind if I ask what the Smith & Wesson revolvers were? Around these parts, just about anything with adjustable rear sight and chambered to a desirable cartridge bring real, real good prices, and sell fast.

about 375 -400 with extra holes was 650.00+ if not drilled for sight. still a nice rifle but 2 smiths were probably worth more
I had 2 Smith 5906's that were law enforcement used and had wear to them I had about 550.00 in the guns.
