View Full Version : Colt SP1
I have a vintage Colt AR15 SP1. I would like to mount a red dot sight on it. I have seen these mounts that place the sight forward of the receiver. How do those work on an old AR15 like the SP1?

I am not familiar with the product but would hazard a guess that it would need to be higher than the carry handle to make it work at all. I am so used to my carry-handle Leatherwood mounts that flat tops with scopes feel weird to me.

I saw those mounts used in Iraq by National Guard troops. So they must work, but how well I don't know.
It's referred to as a "goose neck mount." Attaches to the handle via the hole and then extends down and forward to the handguard. Keep the screw tight and no worries........
