1903 20s vintage question

Were the chamber faces of 1903s made in 1920 parked with the rest of the rifle or were they left in the white? Thanks in advance.

I have an early 1921 rifle that is a NRA/DCM Sales Service Rifle, and the cone area of the chamber face is phosphated with just a small area of bright metal from where it was chambered.
