Saw a 1903 Springfield on our local gunboard yesterday rebarreled in 1942 serial number is in the 220000 range. He says not soprterised guy has $425 on it not too sure how much he knows about these guns.

It is a low numbered receiver. It would depend on the parts, condition, bore, etc. but assuming no major problems, $425 would be a decent price IMHO.

heres how i price low number parts guns,,, i add up the value of the parts if sold on ebay..and subtract 100.00
i dont give an inch on this formula...and have had to pass on some nicer rifles...but parts is parts.

You might have come out ahead on parts, but that's about all.

Rick that's about what I figured if I could have got him down some or the stock hadn't been sanded down I would have bought it.

Randy what type of barrel was on it?

Probably a Springfield 1942 barrel - those were the most common for that year.

Thats what I'd imagine... but on the off chance its a Sedgley USMC barrel from 42, I'd be interested in picking it up...
