National Match 30-06 All same Lot Number 1 full ammo can worth?

Being that you can't buy new manufactured 30-06 (match comparable ammo) for less then a dollar a round, I'd suspect that you'd be able to get 1.25 each on the high side, maybe more to a collector.

Is it Match or National Match?

As I recall, the can and boxes will say National Match and the head stamp will be NM plus the year.

All of the M72 Match was manufactured to the same specs. Each year, one lot was designated for the National Matches at Camp Perry. The "Camp Perry" cartridges or cartons from Frankford Arsenal were not marked in any special way. From 1962 until 1966 the Lake City "Camp Perry" lot was headstamped NM instead of the usual MATCH and the cartons were also marked. None of the steel ammunition boxes were marked in any special way.

You have to know the lots numbers to ID the "Camp Perry" ammunition that is not marked. It was usually selected based on accuracy testing, but it is not much different than the other lots. An average shooter (and most good shooters) would not be able to tell any difference.

Having said all that, the "Camp Perry" ammo does bring a small premium in price.

My memory is fading, but I still think that I have seen ammo cans marked National Match. Perhaps they were 7.62mm though. I have a couple of cans of FA 59 7.62mm marked International Match, so that may be what I am remembering.

I have not seen a steel ammunition box (can) marked in any way except "MATCH", but that doesn't mean that they don't exist. They were often re-packed and new markings added, so anything is possible.

Those FA 59 International Match cans would be of special interest to me. Do you have them handy where you could take a photo for me? That ammo was loaded for the USAMU in 1959. I have a couple of boxes but have never seen a steel can.

Here are those cans. As I suspected, the 1966 National Match can is 7.62mm.

Many thanks for the photos. Lot LC 12065 is the "Camp Perry" lot for 1966 and the cases would have been headstamped LC 66 NM. It is the first can that I have seen that is stamped "National Match" on the top of the can.

The International Match can would have contained 23 of the cartons as in my photograph.

Does either can still have any ammo inside?

The original ammo is long gone. Perhaps Dad has a little of the International Match left, but I doubt it. I'll have to ask him.

The only 30/06 Match that I have in boxes is LC 12219 from 1965. It is in the original can. It is more accurate than the lots of FA59, FA60 and LC62 that I have or had in quantity. Dad has a note on the can. It looks like he paid 8 cents a round for it. :)
