pre WW2 stock advice

I found this interesting stock a few years ago through Rick B. The SA over JFC and the USS WEST POINT are both interesting markings and would indicate US Navy usage. My question: what would be a correct barreled action for this period to install in this stock ?

Probably anything through the early-mid-1930s. The SA/JFC was an overhaul stamp from that period. One of the high numbered Rock Islands with a Springfield barrel would be good, also. The stock originated at Rock Island during the WWI period - it may be one of the "spares" sent to Springfield.

Thanks Rick, I have a nice SA 1.32 million with a SA 7-29 barrel but without the Hatcher hole and would think that maybe a low numbered receiver with the Hatcher hole might be more appropriate to this stock ? Do you think a high number without the Hatcher hole would be correct for this period ?

The USS West Point is quite a famous ship. It was originally the SS America.

beautiful stock, nice markings, id be curious to see what Mr.Beard would have to say.

The ideal rifle to match your stock would be a Springfield Armory rifle in the S/N 1.4 million range. Almost the entire S/N 1.4 million range would be correct.

Alternatively, any rifle made after 1917 and before 1932 could be considered correct.
