Going to save an get a .45 1911 style pistol. Money is a concern, so a colt or a s&w is out . Looking at a RIA or a Regent. Knowing that some of the board members have bought them, what are your true a honest evals of them? Thank you for any an all thoughts. Pistol will be used as a carry an truck gun, loaded with reloads at aprox 950 fps. Mike

The RIA is an excellent pistol made in the Phillipines. Specs are tight, finish is good, alloy steel slide (which fits tight) and is accurate. I bought an ATI pistol, also made in the Phillipines, and it is exceptionally made. Prices for the RIA and ATI are same. I paid $525 out the door with a box of Remington ammo.

I also have an ATI 45 pistol and cannot say enough good about it. Very well made (Phillipines), very accurate and tight. It digests anything I put in the magazine. Excellent buy for $535.

I bought an ATI Fatboy, double stack. Right out of the box, Misfired every time, Fired one round , eject and thumb safety would engage and had to force down. Sent back and was told NOT repairable! Sent new gun to dealer and I requested a refund. POS.!

Look at an STI Spartan. I have a 9mm and .45 and both run great. Frame and slide from the Phillipines, but internals are U.S. made.

RIA has proven to be a solid basic WWII clone 1911A1. Well made and accurate .
Last weekend my local show had them for $369 for basic 1911A1.

Heck of a bargain !
