I am looking to build a copy of Hathcock's Winchester sniper rifle. Dioes anyone know if his rifle had a target stock? I have a prewar rifle and Unertl scope just want to do it mostly correct. Not sure where to find a target stock if ithat is what is needed.

Marine A5 Sniper Rifle

According to Maj. Jim Land (ret), Hathcock's rifle was nothing special, and only shot 2 MOA. Since Jim used this rifle on several occasions (I may be mistaken, but I believe Jim was with Hathcock when he killed Apache), and said its saving grace, and the reason Hathcock used it, was that it kept its zero from shot 1 onward. Hathcock also hot boxed his Unertl every night he was on base (Hill 55). The rifle sported a commercial Model 70 stock. Jim is a great guy, a true Marine's Marine, and I suspect he would tell you anything you wanted to know. I still have to resist a strong urge to salute him when I see him. For those who didn't know, Jim is Distinguished.
