Did Irwin Pedersen make any oval cut stocks?

Would any of the IP stocks have an IR in the Sling well?\

An IR by itself in sling well would imply a wartime replacement stock. IP's (and S'G') would have an IR-IP in sling well. There were oval oiler S'G' stocks that were marked IR-IP in sling well.

Robert Irwin the owner of the company that made the stocks for Irwin Pedersen got a contract to make late war time replacement stocks. These would have been only marked IR in the sling well and are low wood oval cut oiler slots. But they also made stocks for both of the Saginaw Gear companies. Those stocks would have been high wood with oval cut slots and marked RSG in the sling well. Towards the end of production for S.G. Irwin made the type 3 stock with low wood and oval oil slot. Stocks made for Irwin Pedersen would have been marked IR-IP or IP-IR in the sling well. When S'G' took over production they used the stocks already in house to start production. These would have been the IR-IP or IP-IR stocks.

Thanks Tuna.. my S'G' in the 3.629 range just has a RSG in the oval cut high wood S'G' stock. I assumed this was an IP made stock.

It is not an IP stock but one made by Robert Irwin Co. and so marked RSG. There is a difference between the company/family who was in partnership with Pedersen to form Irwin Pedersen and later with Robert Irwin making stock for S'G' and S'G'. When Saginaw Gear took over the production of the IP contract, IP was dissolved and was no longer connected with carbines. Everything that IP had made become the property of S'G'. Robert Irwin obtained a separate contract with the government and Saginaw Gear to make the stocks from then on.
