View Full Version : Front sight
Need a higher front sight for a 7.35 Carcano. They are normally sighted for 300 meters and the Finns had one for their Carcanos sighted for 150 meters.
I need the Finnish height sight but have been unable to locate a source. Brownells is a no, and Numrich is a no.
Any ideas?
Thanks
There is a formula that can be used to figu
Some folks,, ahhhemmm!, me included have been known to build up a front sight using some epoxy and shapeing it and then filing it down at the range to get correct elevation..
Adrians, that is just what I started this morning. Got the good old JB weld out and smeard the stuff on top the sight and on the sides. After it hardens suitable I'll start filing it down to useful proportions. If it isn't enough I'll just pile some more on and file some more. What can it hurt?
ya got nothing to lose by giving it a try,
I did it on a Spanish mod 43 mauser and it worked out great, afterall it can be reversed......:1948:

I have done the same thing with a wire feed welder but the JB Weld thing would work too.
The JB weld didn't work all that well. What I ended up doing was soldering a small finishing nail(cut short) to the top of the original front sight. Cleaned up all the odd shapes and flattened the sides, took it to the range and shot and filed, and shot and filed, til I got it to hit about an inch high at fifty yards. Took twenty rounds but so what, it was fun, got the job done.
