View Full Version : K98 1937 s 237
Does a refinished all matching s237 with xcellant bore for 950 sound good. Stock is unsanded. Thanks frank
What has been 'refinished' and how do you know, stock unsanded?. This does not sound 'refinished'. More detail needed, post is confusing.
Rifle has been reblued. Ad says it is refinished. It looks reblued. Stock looks like it has not been touched. It has a bunch of waffenamts on it and they look good. This rifle is owned by a gunsmith/dealer. Ad also says it is a luftwaffe rifle.

Post a pic of it...I wouldn't pay that for a refinished / reblued rifle.
Too much for a reblued rifle imo
way too much for a reblued rifle.
The collector value is almost nil, it is nothing more then a good looking shooter now. While 950 would be cheap for a un-molested rifle such as this, once re-blued value is just about (maybe 'lil more) like a Mitchells and they are over priced shooters too! That "gun-smith" has no conception what collectors want. Pass, it will never go up in value and you loose, right off the bat!
Warning flags everywhere on that one. Aside from the shiny over-polished reblue, note the caveat in the listing: "All sales are final. No returns."
Same seller "USSOzbourn" is also offering a seriously humped-up U.S. Krag-Jorgensen "Board of Ordnance" rifle for $13K. A very rare variant (approx 100 made) but with a modern replacement stock stamped with original-looking cartouches and suspiciously engraved rear sight. If the seller / gunsmith / restorer is willing to do that with an historically-significant Krag, it makes me wonder many of the matching serial numbers and copious Waffenamt stamps on that "refinished" K98 are original to the rifle.
